Like many of us, I’ve had my share of life interruptions - moments that stopped me in my tracks and changed everything I thought I knew about my future.

For years, I did what so many of us do - I kept going, kept smiling, and tucked the hard emotions away in a box marked “deal with later.” But life has a way of nudging us to pause when we most need to.

It wasn’t just one bad day; it was years of challenges, heartbreaks, and uncertainty. I told myself I was fine, but inside I was carrying the heavy weight of emotions I’d never faced. The truth is, those feelings don’t disappear - they wait, quietly, until we’re ready to listen.

My moment came at the end of 2022, when my body could no longer be ignored. After living with kidney disease for over 30 years, my health became the interruption that finally made me stop and go inward. In doing the deepest healing work of my life, I navigated my transplant journey with more peace than I could have ever imagined.

In April 2024, I received the most extraordinary gift - a new kidney, who I lovingly call Katie the Kidney. She became more than a transplant; she became a symbol of renewal, reminding me how precious life is, how strong we really are, and how vital it is to tend not only to our bodies, but to our hearts and emotions too.

This little guide is my way of helping you do the same - to pause, breathe, and start unpacking the weight of what you’ve been carrying. Because peace isn’t found in avoiding the interruptions… it’s found in how we meet them.
